JASON KELLEY

CASE MANAGER / MENTOR

“I will never help people by pointing my finger at them. I’ll help them by holding out my arms.”

Case Manager Jason Kelley left a successful nine-year career in law enforcement to become a counselor. Along the way, he was the Executive Director of a non-profit in The Colony.

In law enforcement, Jason rose quickly, first as a jailer, then a jail supervisor, then police officer. A solid career provided a comfortable lifestyle for his wife and children. But in 2011, Jason felt a strong calling to leave law enforcement. For him personally, he realized that law enforcement’s defined view of actions and consequences was much less interesting than how a person got to where they are today. With his wife and children’s support, he left the security of his profession to join a non-profit organization as a counselor and help people in a magnified way.

At Metro Relief in The Colony, Jason was promoted to Executive Director of the staff and operations to help homeless and addicted friends, to help lead them to life transformation by building relationships, sharing love, and encouraging people in a dignified manner. As his calling evolved, Jason moved to the non-profit Peaceful Pathway Counseling organization to continue providing life management skills training. He also became an ordained minister.

In March 2021 Pam recruited him to join Next Steps as a Case Manager.

Pam: "Jason taught me it’s OK to be excited about the unknown.”

Jason’s background means he is comfortable with all people, and has a peaceful, calming demeanor that brings hope and comfort to those who are hurting from tough, stressful situations. He obtained his certification for counseling from the American Institute of Healthcare Professionals (AIHCP). A lifelong resident of The Colony, he has a wife and six children.
